What Makes Me Happy?
In order to answer this I must start off with my definition of "happy." This might sound like a cliche introduction to an essay written by an enlightened philosopher, but some might view happiness differently. Some might think of happiness in the same way as they view gratification. I see it as anything that can distract me from the stresses of the regular world and allow me to see positive. Whether it be through a comedian mocking everyday things in life, a funny story, playing with a lovable dog, drinking a cold thick milkshake, or watching your favorite professional sports team play. All of these have the potential to draw me in, and give me the ability to abandon the building thoughts of stress in which every day life adds more and more of each day. Being happy doesn't require me to laugh or to enjoy myself to the fullest, just take a break and ignore the negative. These times of being happy then allow me to return to the stresses of the real world with a clearer mind and a more apt attitude.

I definitely like the perspective that you are coming from. You really do have a point when you first take into consideration what your personal opinion of happy is.
